3 Parasites You Should Know About!

You don’t like that cockroach oozing out of your sink? Well, that’s so dreadful. But do you know that there are few tiny creatures which can be much more dangerous. They might appear smaller in size, but the problems they cause are seriously huge. Explore about three mites causing severe health conditions.

SCABIES: Being one of the NTDs, scabies is diagnosed in over 300 million worldwide. It is said to be caused by eight legged mite, Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis. It is among those species of itch mite which can live, feed, and reproduce on their human host. As far as the infestation is considered, the adult female mite is said to form a burrow into the upper layer of skin, where it then deposit eggs. Now due to the presence mites and eggs, infestation becomes very itchy and is often accompanied with a scabies rash.  Well, the symptoms may not appear until 2-6 weeks after initial exposure, but it is highly contagious and spread very easily. Usually it is passed by direct and prolonged skin-to-skin contact. But exposure to bedding, clothing, or even furniture used by an infected person can also lead to scabies.

BEDBUGS: Being the most disgusting little creatures feeding on your blood, these mites are said to attack you during the night time. The mites take an entry in your body through a tiny cutting mandible your skin into a small blood vessel. Often, you won’t feel the actual bite; however, depending on the location and the body’s reaction, you will feel the after affects, including itchiness and swelling. In few cases, people are more allergic to the bite and can have more severe reactions.

The worst thing about the bedbugs is that these have become epidemic in many cities. Causing major physiological and financial distress, such kind of infestation is not only difficult but also expensive to eradicate.

LICE: You are familiar to it; in fact the parents of school age children are more familiar with lice. Do you know head lice feed on dead skin and can continue with the same about 2 days without a warm host to live on? When it is about transmission, head to head contact is the most prominent one. But sharing pillows, hats, headphones and combs, can also be a reason to pick up lice.

Here it is worth noticing that lice do not generally carry diseases. However, these can lead to typhus, relapsing and trench fever.

So, you are now pretty aware of three tiny bugs which might not appear dangerous, but these actually are.
