Head lice are tiny parasites residing on the scalp and hair shafts where they survive on the blood. It is spread from infected person through beddings, sharing clothes or personal items like combs and brushes, and sleep overs. Children are more prone to the lice. Almond Oil Coating:

Almond oil coating is a powerful home remedy of lice as they kill the lice by suffocating them and check on their production rate. Just mix 2 ounces of almond oil with few drops of other essential oil like olive oil. Apply the mixture on your scalp by using cotton balls. Do this before going to your bed and leave it for overnight for some 12-13 hours. Next morning comb out to remove the lice and then rinse off with a good shampoo. Repeat the process daily until you notice the improvement.

Petroleum Jelly and Mayonnaise:

Petroleum Jelly like Vaseline can eliminate the roaming lice. All you need to apply a thick layer of petroleum jelly to the scalp and then secure it with a shower cap in the night. Use mineral oil to remove the petroleum jelly and lice and then go for shampooing. Repeat it every night.
You can also use petroleum jelly with mayonnaise to coat your head with.

Garlic and Lime Juice:

Garlic’s strong smell can remove lice. It contains antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that eradicate lice.

To prepare this home remedy, prepare a thick paste by grinding eight to ten garlic cloves and then blend it with 3 tbsp. of lime juice. Apply this mixture on the scalp and wait for half an hour. Later, rinse it with warm water. You can also mix green tea, lemon extract, shampoo and conditioner. But apply oil before applying the paste on your hair. Wait for thirty minutes. Wash it off with shampoo and repeat the process every once in a week for two months.

Tree Tea Oil:

Tea tree oil is antibacterial in nature, thereby removing the head lice in a natural way. Mix one tbsp. of tea tree oil with an ounce of natural shampoo and 3 tbsp. of coconut/olive oil. Coat your hair with this solution and then wear shower cap or towel. Wait for half an hour and then wash it off with hot water. Afterwards, comb your hair. Please don’t apply it directly over the scalp.

Egg Yolk:

Egg yolk is the effective home remedy for most of the hair problems. It is the natural conditioner to fix your frizzy hair. It is effective on the head lice too! Beat two egg yolks with 3 tbsp. of lemon juice and 3 tbsp. of organic vinegar. Apply this mixture evenly on your scalp and wait for 20 minutes. Rinse it off with warm water. It will not only help you get rid of lice but also makes your hair soft and lustrous.

In this way, these home remedies are useful to remove lice if you want to stay away from harsh chemicals and pesticides. They are easily available at your kitchen! However, these remedies are only useful in case of mild lice. If they don’t show any result, you must see your physician.
