Scabies is a skin condition caused by a Sarcoptesscabiei mite. It is a parasite that infest and attackshuman skin, and causes the skin disease. Symptoms of scabies include pimple like red rashes and itching. The itching in the case of scabies mostly occurs during night. It is a contagious diseases and anyone can get it, it spreads by direct skin-to-skin contact. The mite of scabies cannot survive without human skin for more than 48 to 72 hours. Scabies can be treated with the help of topical cream or oral medication.Scabies cannot be treated properly at home, so it is important to go to a doctor that will prescribe you correct medications to control itching and swelling of scabies.

Sometimes itching may continue for weeks, even if you applied the medication. Be sure and watch for new tracks or bumps. These signs will indicate you that a second treatment is necessary or not.Anyone exposed to scabies should be treated. In the treatment of scabieselimination of infestation is important. There are many creams and lotions available on the market for scabies. These lotions and creams can be applied all over the body from neck down.

Permethrin cream. It is a topical cream which contains chemicals that kill scabies mites and their eggs. It is safe for adults, pregnant women, and children ages2 months and above.

Ivermectin (Stromectol). It is an oral medication given to people who have altered immune systems, andto people suffering from crusted scabies.The medication isn’t good for women who are pregnant or breast feeding, or for children who weigh less than 33 pounds (15 kg).

Crotamiton (Eurax). It is available in the form of cream or a lotion. Crotamiton can be applied once a day for two days. This medication is unsafe for children or for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Lindane lotion. It is also a chemical treatment recommended for whom other treatments didn’t work. Lindane lotion isn’t safe for children younger than 2 years, women who are pregnant or nursing, the elderly, or anyone who weighs below 110 pounds (50 kilograms).

Always keep this thing in mind, and don’t use the above-mentioned medication without consulting a doctor, otherwise, you can face terrible side effects. Doctor may prescribe other topical medications, such as sulfur compounded in petrolatum, for people who don’t respond to or can’t use these medications.
