Trimming: Start with shaping your feet. With help of cotton dipped in nail polish remover, remove the old nail paint. Then trim your nails cutting them straight across. Never cut the corners, else it can lead to painful ingrown nails. If you want to get a desired shape, you can also use an emery board or nail file. If you find it bit painful, try it after second step, i.e. after soaking. Your nails become softer and easy to shape once they are soaked.

Soaking: Not only this method keeps your feet healthy, but also it is known to be one of the best stress beaters. To prepare a good foot soak, take a basin filled with warm water. It should be enough to cover up to your ankles. Here are some additions you can make:

  • Epsom salt:  Adding ½ cup of this emollient will reduce roughness and soothe inflammations up to great extent. Moreover, it will reduce muscle pain. 
  • Lemon Juice: Approximately juice of one lemon will work ideally to wash away all the dirt particles from your feet. Substitute to this can be a liquid hand wash or a mild shampoo.
  • Essential oils: You can take any, lavender, eucalyptus or any other. Just add 10-12 drops. These oils soothe and rejuvenate the skin. Providing relief to aching feet these oils are perfect antiseptic and disinfectant to heal your feet.

Now soak your feet and sit in a comfortable position for 15-20 minutes.

Exfoliate: After you remove your feet from warm water, you a soft towel to wipe them. Now you can massage a cuticle cream on the base of each toe nail and leave for a few minutes. You have to remove the dry and rough skin. For this, you need a good foot file or pumice stone. Just make sure to scrub the heel and balls of the feet, where there is rough and hard skin. Scraping hard is strictly prohibited.

Moisturize: After scrubbing, clean your feet and then moisturize them. You can use any good and natural moisturizer. It will soften, hydrate and protect your feet completely. For better results, you can wear socks immediately after moisturizing.

Beautify: Now your feet are ready to decorate. You can paint your toe nails with any color, applying a base coat. Let it dry before you apply second coat of nail polish. Just remember to use a good moisturizer daily to keep your feet smiling.
