You are at risk every time a mosquito bites you, but symptoms of these mosquito-borne diseases are different.However, to stop the itching, red bumpsand swelling from mosquito bites, here are few solutions which can be helpfulfor you.

Rub alcohol on the affected area

Wipe the area with alcohol. It will provide relief from inflammation and itching. As the alcohol evaporates, it cools the skin and tricks your brain to not feel the itch. Alcohol also works as a disinfectant.

Apply numbing cream

You can apply numbing cream on the bitten area. It contains local anesthesia which numbs the areas and prevents from sending signals to your brain. After some time, you will not feel pain or itch.

Crushed ice

Crushed ice can reduce the inflammation, and numbs the skin which can provide you relief from itching. But applying ice on the skin for more than five minutes can cause skin damage. For keeping it on the skin for longer,put a cloth between your skin and ice.


Honey has anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory properties which is beneficial for bumps and bruises. You can apply a drop or two on the affected area and it will reduce your inflammation and temptation to itch.

Baking soda

Sodium Bicarbonate can also provide relief from mosquito bites. You just have to make the paste of it. You can create a paste by mixing 1 tablespoon of baking soda with little water and apply it on the bite for 10 minutes.

Apple cider vinegar

Applying cider vinegar is a good remedy for treating itching of mosquito bites. It can neutralize the pH balance of the infected area. It also reduces the inflammation and burning sensations.

Tea bag

Tea tannins act an astringent that draw toxins off the skin. It will reduce your swelling and inflammation. You can press a used tea bag against your bitten skin until the itching stops.

Tea tree oil

Tea tree oils has many benefits and one of them is to treat skin related problems like mosquito bites. You can directly apply tea tree oil on the skin. It has no side-effects. Just a little drop of essential oil on a cotton swab and rub the affected area with it.

Peppermint poultice

Fresh peppermint is the best remedy for mosquito bites. You can apply peppermint paste on the bite and leave it for 5 minutes. It will reduce the swelling and give you a quick relief.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is antimicrobial which can stop the itching of mosquito bite. Just apply the juice of lemon on the affected area, leave it for few minutes, let it dry and then wash it with water.
