Shingles is a viral infection caused by varicella zoster (VZV) virus that forms a painful rash on your skin. This is the same virus that gives you chickenpox and it lies dormant in your system if you ever had chickenpox as a child. This virus can show up again later in your life and cause shingles rash. This is a painful rash that usually lasts up to 2 to 4 weeks. Besides pain, you can also feel burning and itching sensation, and it further creates all-around discomfort.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly 1 in 3 people in the United States have the chances of developing shingles at some point in their lifetime. Rash and fluid-filled blisters are formed within a couple of days after the onset of pain. Some patients even suffer from fever, sensitivity to light and fatigue during shingles skin rash.
Your doctor will usually prescribe you anti-viral drug Acyclovir or other painkillers or pharmaceutical creams to reduce the symptoms or signs. Even anti-depressants are prescribed to some patients, but the worst part about this medication is that it can cause severe mood swings, as well as suicidal thoughts in a patient. But to avoid all that, you may rely on natural remedies to cure shingles.
1. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is known for its antiviral, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, as well as soothing properties. It is able to soothe the pain of rashes and reduce inflammation. Even oral consumption of apple cider vinegar can naturally speed up the healing process of rashes.
You can dip a cotton ball in ACV and apply it to the affected areas, leave it for 30 minutes and rinse with water. You can repeat it twice a day for faster results.
2. Olive Oil
Virgin olive oil is Vitamin E rich and it can help in soothing the symptoms of shingles. You can apply olive oil to the affected area and leave for 30 minutes. It will suffocate the blister-causing virus and also provide enough vitamin E to the skin for the quick recovery.
