The oral region of the face is unique, with three different epithelial zones: the cutaneous lips, the vermillion and the mucosa of the oral cavity. The skin of the cutaneous vermillion is similar to the rest of the face. There are typical features such as sebaceous glands, sweat glands and hair follicles. However, the vermillion is non-keratinized. Specifically, areas in this region are considered “non-keratinizing” and therefore lack the typical stratum corneum barrier, including the labial mucosa and wet surface of the Vermillion, ventral tongue, and the floor of mouth, soft palate and buccal mucosa. The mucosa of the oral cavity contains saliva with buffering and solvent action. Susceptibility to allergens varies among these regions.

Major causes of ACD

ACD is the type of allergic reaction, in which a substance contacts with skin, and later result in a rash. The rash from poison ivy is one the example of ivy. The rash of the allergy basically happens 2-3 days later. This delay makes ACD hard to figure out. Once the rash occurs it may last for many weeks. People may stop using the offending product for some time but that’s not long enough is not long enough to see the results.

Effect on Lips

Many people have dry chapped lips and require daily use of lip balm. However, you if your lips stay chapped despite frequent use of lip balms; you may have more than just chapped lips. You may be experiencing inflammation of the lips. On the skin, this condition is known as dermatitis. On the lips, it is known as cheilitis.

Pending on how toserve it is, he may prescribe steroids pills or ointment. Your doctor can also do a skin test to determine what you are allergic too.  So if you can’t avoid what you are allergic too, consult adoctor immediately.
