4 Effective Home Remedies for Flea Bites

Fleas are the parasites that feed on the skin of the birds and mammals. Human beings come into contact of fleas through their pets like dogs and cats. The target areas of flea bites are exposed legs, feet and back. Flea bites are common during summer season. You can use the home remedies to treat flea bites which are given below:

Cold Compress:

Cold compress eases the itching and pain due to the flea bites. This is because it numbs the nerve endings carrying the pain or itching signals to the brain, and it reduces the swelling as well. This is effective remedy for flea bites both for human being and dog.

Use warm water to clean the area. Now, take ice cubes in a thin towel. Compress the ice pack on that area for 2-3 minutes. Wait for few seconds and repeat the process with some breaks for 15 minutes. It can be done 4 times a day till you see improvement. Avoid applying directly the ice cubes on the skin as it may burn your skin.

Tea Tree Oil:

Tea tree oil is an effective home remedy for flea bites as it contains the healing properties. It is antiseptic in nature and speeds up the healing process. Soak cotton ball in diluted tea tree oil and dab it on the affected part. Repeat this several times a day to get the bite healed.

You can also use green or black tea to treat the flea bites. After dipping the tea bags, use that water to wash the affected part. You can also place the tea bags directly on itching place.

Baking Soda:

Baking soda contains healing powers for various types of skin conditions including flea bites irritations and swollen patches. It balances the acid and provides the relief from itching while reducing swelling and inflammation.

Mix 1 tbsp. of baking soda with little parts of water till you obtain a thick paste. Apply this paste on the bite. Wait for 5-10 minutes before rinsing it off with cool water. Repeat it twice in a day.

You can try it in your bath by adding one cup of baking soda to your bathtub of cool water. Mix it well. Soak yourself for 10 minutes. Repeat the process daily. Avoid it applying on the cuts and wounds on the skin.

Aloe Vera:

Aloe Vera is the proved herbal remedy for many skin issues and several health problems as well. You can use this miracle plant for your flea bites as it has the soothing properties for the skin. Aloe Vera is loaded with antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties to heal the itching and swelling resulted from flea bites. In this way, it is great for your healing process. Extract the gel from fresh aloe vera leaf and apply it on the affected part of the skin. Wait for 15 minutes and wash it off with lukewarm water. Repeat the process for 2-3 times a day.
