An itchy scalp causes a lot of discomfort and even hair loss. Moreover, it is highly embarrassing to scratch the itchy scalp in public areas. The causes of itchy scalp are dandruff, dry scalp, sebaceous cysts, anxiety, improper hair care, and poor diet.

Tea Tree Oil– anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory

Tea tree oil has natural antifungal, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties which can clear off the itchiness from your scalp.

Directions for use:

  • Mix 10 to 20 drops of tea tree oil with one-half cup of baby shampoo. Continue to use it till problem persists.
  • Alternatively, you can also dilute two or three drops of tea tree oil with one tablespoon of vegetable oil. Massaging regularly with this mixture will heal the dry and itchy scalp in a week or two.

Lemon Juice-Antiseptic

Lemon juice will act a natural antiseptic for treating itchy and dry scalp. It is the best remedy for treating the dandruff.

Directions for use:

  • Apply fresh lemon juice thoroughly on the scalp for five minutes and then shampoo your hair. If there is no dandruff, you can even dilute the lemon juice in water.
  • The other way is to mix lemon juice with yogurt and then apply it over your scalp for a few minutes. Then wash the hair with a mild shampoo.

Baking Soda- Exfoliates the scalp

Baking soda can get your hair rid of itching by exfoliating the scalp and controlling dandruff growth due to overactive fungi.

  • Add some water to baking soda till it becomes a paste. Now apply it directly on your scalp. For more effective results you can even rub some olive oil before you apply the baking soda paste.
  • Let it get properly absorbed in the scalp and then rinse your scalp with water.

Apple Cider Vinegar- kills yeast and virus

Apple cider vinegar is anti-inflammatory which can fight against the yeast and virus that cause itchy scalp. It can also help in balancing the pH levels of the scalp that can provide relief from itching and dryness.

Directions for use:

  • First rinse your head with water and allow it to dry. Now add equal amounts of apple cider vinegar into water and put this mixture into a spray bottle.
  • Take a cotton ball to apply this mixture onto your scalp. You can also spray it on your scalp using the spray bottle.
  • Leave it for few minutes and then shampoo your hair with normal water.

Aloe Vera- Natural moisturizer

Aloe vera gel is a natural moisturizer which can help you to get rid of excessive dryness and itching.

Bananas can help to treat itchy scalp and also provide natural conditioning to your hair. Banana is known for its natural nourishing and moisturizing properties that can help to reduce flakes, dandruff and inflammation.

  • Mash two bananas and mix them with one ripe avocado.
