How to Protect Yourself From House Guests with Scabies Infection?

Scabies is a highly contagious disease and if you are aware of an infected person, try to maintain a distance from him. It’s for your own good. The infection shouldn’t be taken lightly in any case.

If your infected guests insist on paying you a visit at home, don’t panic and handle the situation calmly. Fretting will not help; instead make a plan to keep all of your family members safe.

  1. A person suffering from Scabies is an awful sight. Imagine small microscopic mites digging burrows inside the human skin and causing intense itching and res rashes. But, it can happen to anyone. So, it’s important that you don’t look at infected persons as untouchables.
  2. Empathize with your guest and try to share their agony by hearing them out. By creating a tense situation at home, you will only spread panic. Think practically and do not rush into anything.
  3. Let all family members know of the infection and that it is highly contagious. Remember to tell everybody at home that its spreads by personal contact. If there is no physical, half the battle is already one.
  4. Make a note of all the objects touched by the houseguest and be very vigilant. Try and keep the transmission and exposure to the least minimum.
  5. Once the guest leaves, make it a point to disinfect thoroughly. Clean all the pillowcases, towels, beddings and clothing thoroughly.
  6. As a precaution use, Dr. Scabies liquid soap twice a day for three days, in order to be double sure.
  7. If there are any bumps and rashes that erupt after a few weeks, start the treatment of Dr. Scabies right away. Do NOT ignore the early signs, if any.
