Scabies is more than a common skin disease. Sometimes its symptoms are so horrible that torments the life of a patient.
We have repeated it so many times in our blogs that scabies is a contagious diseases caused by mites. It is a common skin disease that affects millions across the world.
But the disease affects the quality of life with horrible symptoms. For example, blisters, burrows, rashes which are often coupled with horrible itching that goes worse at night.
Here are the scabies stories that tell us how it’s like to live with scabies.
A Struggle with Bumpy Itch and Bottles of Useless Lotion…
“About 18 months ago I had a small patch of bumpy, itchy skin on my arm, so I went to a dermatologist and he said “Eczema” and told me to put skin lotion on it.
Well, the itch spread from one elbow to my other elbow, up and down my arms, down to my legs, etc.
I went to another dermatologist. He said “Eczema” and told me to put regular skin lotion on it. I now have a row of bottles of useless lotion.
After months of research, I finally figured out I might have scabies. I read 5% permethrin cream was the treatment.”

Two Year’s Long Battle with Scabies and the Losing of Toes
“I have been battling scabies and my doctor for two years. I had an infestation, and the doctor did not want to continue to give me the medicine. I have been spraying my face, head and body with witch hazeland soaking my feet in witch hazel. I also used pure tea tree oil. I lost two toes 3 years ago, due to not knowing that it was scabies on me. By using the witch hazel and the tea tree oil I am finally clearing up. They were embedded in my head and face real bad. I do not wish these things on anyone.”

Confusing Scabies with Chicken Pox…
“I have been super busy lately because I have been attacked by mites which I have caught on the plane a few weeks ago. So please for those people travelling I would advise staying away from those blankets.
For me it appeared really lumpy at first and it took about 3 weeks before symptoms started to appear (after exposed to the mites). It was super itchy and I thought I had chicken pox because spots started to appear on the soles of my feet and my palm which was unusual. The spots were lumpy and blistery (with transparent pus in it when you squeeze the spots).
During the night, I started to itch soooo badly (I can’t describe how badly I was itching) It was so bad that I could not sleep AT ALL! The worse area was the sole of my feet which I itched like crazy but didn’t feel any relieve. So next day I went to the doctors to get some help as it was impossible to live”

Welts Occurring Across the Body…
“There was a big cluster of welts that the others seemed to spread from. My arm and stomach weren’t the only places I got the welts, either. I got welts all over my buttcheeks, “underboob” area, and on the soles of my feet. Yep, all convenient to scratch while on the job. NOT. Apparently, the most common areas for scabies mites to tunnel into your skin (excuse me while I shudder) are warm, moist areas of your body such as your butt, groin, and armpits.”
