This is the same virus that gives you chickenpox and it lies dormant in your system if you ever had chickenpox as a child. This virus can show up again later in your life and cause shingles rash. This is a painful rash that usually lasts up to 2 to 4 weeks. Besides pain, you can also feel burning and itching sensation, and it further creates all-around discomfort.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly 1 in 3 people in the United States have the chances of developing shingles at some point in their lifetime. Rash and fluid-filled blisters are formed within a couple of days after the onset of pain. Some patients even suffer from fever, sensitivity to light and fatigue during shingles skin rash.

Your doctor will usually prescribe you anti-viral drug Acyclovir or other painkillers or pharmaceutical creams to reduce the symptoms or signs. Even anti-depressants are prescribed to some patients, but the worst part about this medication is that it can cause severe mood swings, as well as suicidal thoughts in a patient. But to avoid all that, you may rely on natural remedies to cure shingles.

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is known for its antiviral, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, as well as soothing properties. It is able to soothe the pain of rashes and reduce inflammation. Even oral consumption of apple cider vinegar can naturally speed up the healing process of rashes.

You can dip a cotton ball in ACV and apply it to the affected areas, leave it for 30 minutes and rinse with water. You can repeat it twice a day for faster results.

2. Olive Oil

Virgin olive oil is Vitamin E rich and it can help in soothing the symptoms of shingles. You can apply olive oil to the affected area and leave for 30 minutes. It will suffocate the blister-causing virus and also provide enough vitamin E to the skin for the quick recovery.

3. Salt Water

You can mix a tablespoon of salt in a small amount of water in a bowl. Now dab a cotton ball in the mixture and apply it to the affected area. It might burn a little, but will eventually control further symptoms of rashes.

4. Aspirin + Petroleum jelly

Asprin mixed with petroleum jelly can be used to kill shingles virus and also promotes fast healing. It’s not really a natural remedy but quite effective. For this method, you need two aspirin tablets and one spoon of petroleum jelly. Now crush the aspirin tablets and mix with one tablespoon of petroleum jelly. Apply this mixture to affected skin with rashes and blisters, and keep it for 20 minutes. Later, wash with cold water. This mixture is used to suffocate shingles virus and further reduce more chances of outbreaks.

5. Olive oil + Garlic

Olive oil will provide vitamin E to the skin, whereas garlic will reduce skin inflammation and itching. You need garlic cloves, olive oil, mortar and pestle, and cotton for this method. Put 10 garlic cloves in the mortar and add five drops of cold water. Now crush them for 5 minutes in pestle until a creamy mixture is formed. Now add 30 drops of olive oil to the mixture. Apply it to the affected area with the help of cotton. Keep it on the skin for 30 minutes and wash it with cold water for fast result. This remedy can be applied two times a day to treat shingles fast.
