What Is Psoriasis? Is It Related To Scabies?

Psoriasis is one of the most common skin diseases in the world. The root cause for this disease is uncontrolled growth in the skin cells.

Psoriasis is often termed as a chronic disease as it takes may years to cure. The only thing common between Psoriasis and Scabies is the fact that the both are skin diseases.

Scabies scan be classified as an acute condition of the skin that is curable in matter of weeks, whereas Psoriasis may take longer to treat

1. Sympotms of Scabies

The common symptoms of Scabies are a pimple like red bumpy rash, which is followed by an intense itching. Soon the victim can see burrow like lines in grey or red color below his skin.

It is the indication that the scabies mites have started digging through the skin.

2. Symptoms of Psoriasis

The common symptoms of Psoriasis are red patches and scales that are silvery in color. The patches are technically called “plaques”.

3. Locations for Scabies

Scabies mites are often found in the buttocks, skin between the fingers, abdomen, soles of the feet and wrist. They are more common in the warm and moist places.

4. Locations for Psoriasis

Psoriasis is often seen to infect the face, elbows, palms, soles of the feet and the scalp. It shows no rashes or burrows as seen in Scabies, just scales. The first things that are noticed in a patient that has Psoriasis are the changes in the fingers and toe nails. They show signs of discoloration, changes in the shape and pitting.

5. Scabies Versus Psoriasis

Last but not the least, Psoriasis is often considered to be a genetic disease passed on from the parent to the child, whereas Scabies is caused by the microscopic mite, Sarcoptes scabei.
